The first recorded meeting was held on 30th July 1969 to consider the setting up of a Club in the village.  An open meeting was then held and the first committee elected on 15th June 1970.

Two courts were opened on the site in Spring 1972, and the Clubhouse was purchased from Ironbridge Power Station, at a cost of £25 and re-erected by members.

A Ladies' team was entered in the County League in 1973 followed by a Men's team in 1978.

The Club was granted a 99 year lease in 1980 and resurfaced with rd shale.  Electricity was installed, to replace the gas lights, and members completed the floodlighting in 1998.

The Club was then given another very generous leasehold on the opposite field.  The new courts were completed in the spring of 2008 at a cost of £85,000 of which the membership raised £47,000.  The balance coming from Grants and an LTA loan which was paid off over five years.

This year the Club will be entering four Ladies' and three Men's teams in the Shropshire Summer Leagues.  There is also an Autumn Mixed Doubles League for which teams are entered.
